Default What kind of interesting poker tournaments have you heard of?

I have a regular poker tournament going on in my town and I want to try adding some unusual tournaments to the roster. For instance, at the end of the month, we're going to try a knockout tournament, where players get bonus money for eliminating another player. I'm also thinking of trying rebuy tournaments and double/triple shoot out tournaments. Do you know of any other interesting or unusual kinds of poker tournaments?I'm not asking for names of events. I'm asking for KINDS of no limit hold em tournaments, like satellites, rebuys, knockouts, double shoot outs, triple shoot outs, etc.A knockout tournament and a bounty tournament are similar. In a bounty tournament, there's a price on a specific player; in a knockout tournament, you get a bonus for knocking out ANYBODY. So you could potentially win money without even placing. A bounty tournament could work, where someone gets a bonus for knocking out the 1st place finisher from last time or tournament leader. Thanks. And yup, what you described is exactly what a shoot-out tournament is.

I'm not sure if they're the same things you're talking about, but maybe a bounty on a certain player? Draw a name before it starts and whoever knocks that person out gets their entry fee in winnings. At least that much.Same with the shootout bit you mention. Don't know if you mean the same thing, but say if you had 36 people playing, have 6 tables of 6 and play each table down until 1 person remains. Then the 6 table winners meet at the final table. This works best if the people entered can be divided equally to fill tables, otherwise people will have a chip advantage at the final, inless you give them equal stacks to begin.

Well, you pretty much doing it all all ready. Depending on the space, and the amount of tables you have, you can do a Heads-up tournament.
