Default How much money should I bring to a LIMIT holdem cash game?

I know with no limit, 100 times the big blind is pretty standard. But what is a good amount to bring to a LIMIT game?

Since you will be playing tighter at a limit game compared to a NL game, you can bring a little less. Buying in for the table max doesn't make sense as you don't really have any all-in-power. You should bring about 15-20x the big bet.

There is no such thing as a table max in limit, as the above answerer said. You should buy in with at least 3-5 times the table min so you can handle any swings. But really, you could buy in for 1million on a 2/4 game, and it shouldn't matter. You have no all-in power, and you also can't we wiped out in one hand, so bring whatever you want to the table as long as you have enough to cover the swings in momentum.

Well, you usually want to have enough bets in your stack to be able to cover caps on every street...which would be 12BB for a 4 bet cap and 15BB for a five bet cap. (BB here is the"big bet") But in reality, you won't lose tons of opportunity as long as your stack is above 10BB. So you want to start out a decent amount above that so you don't have to rebuy right away if you get off to a bad start. When I play limit at a casino, the stakes are usually 3/6 and I buy $100 in red and $40 in white. This gives me a little over 23BB which I definitely feel comfortable with.

In 3/6 or 2/4 I usually buy in with $60, 4/8 I buy $80. Most people buy in with $100, and I've seen buy in for $300. Have fun and win big.

You want to buy in for at least 20 big bets. That will cover every bet if capped, plus a couple rounds of mucking your blinds. Ideally, you should just buy in for 40 big bets so you don't have to worry about it until you're ready to end your session.Remember to always keep enough money on the table to cap all bets though. You don't want to get into a situation where you flop the nuts and are up against the second nuts and are capping every round, but run out of money to bet with on the turn. You can add chips between any hand, but it will get very annoying to the other players if your bleeding away chips with a short stack and keep buying in every couple of hands. If at any point you run out of money in your pocket but can't cover all rounds with the money on the table, or just don't want to spend any more money, you should LEAVE. Do not sit there with a short stack until you run out of money.
