What limit Texas Holdem game offers the best chance of making poker a profession?
I have been playing low stakes Texas Holdem for about two years. First 2-4, then 3-6, and now usually 4-8. I am very frustrated with my inability to beat these games consistently. I am wondering what limit I should aim for so that I can supplement my income by playing poker. The problem seems to be that people will go to the river with just about any card to beat a monster hand. Does skill come into play more than luck at higher stakes and if so is it possible to play Limit Holdem professionally? If anyone can answer this question please indicate the limit, bankroll required, and any strategy that might be helpful. I have a feeling that patience is more important than either luck or skill but sometimes I lose patience because of sheer frustration; i.e., having to fold so many hands during a session in which I am running bad. I play live games in a casino and not on line. I also have a strong feeling that the only people making consistent money from low stakes poker games are the casino owners. I am now thinking the the low stakes game is good for sheer entertainment but it is generally a waste of time. Is this because I am a bad player?
